Seven tips for family travel

Some people like to travel alone, some – with friends or family. We offer you seven tips in case you decide to go on a trip with your family.

  1. Before you go on a trip, you need to seriously think about all the moments of your trip, starting with where you go and who you take with you, and ending with how you will put your luggage. If you follow this rule, you will have the best pick in the airline seats, the best hotel rooms, etc.
  2. You have to decide where you want to go. To do this, you must determine what you want to do on the trip, namely, diving or surfing, or enjoy the sea and white sand. It all depends on the desires of your family.
  3. Once you have decided what your family needs, look for a place for your rest that has a little of something for everyone. There are many resorts that are suitable for both children and adults.
  4. Going on a trip, choose such a destination, which offers a variety of additional options for everyone in the group. As it happens very often, both children and adults get bored with spending time in the same place.
  5. You can spend less money on travel if your child is preschool. You can save upward of 50%. Also, you should remember that trips on holidays such as Christmas, Memorial Day to Labor Day, etc will be very expensive.
  6. You can get into such a situation that you have found several good options, but the cost of one option is more than another. There may be a reason. Talk to those people who have already been in these places. Try to determine exactly what you’re getting, especially with all-inclusive deals. May be, kids’ clubs are different from each other in these places or 1 resort’s food options vastly outweigh the others.
  7. At many resorts, children are only looked after during the day, and you should take care of your child yourself in the evening. But there are also resorts that offer child care and kids camp activities in the evening, giving parents an opportunity to spend more time alone.

How to go on a trip with the whole family without spending a lot of money

Almost everyone is dreaming to live traveling and to visit every corner of the earth. And especially, everyone wants to go on a journey with their family. But what stops us? That’s right – the money. Not every family can afford to go on a trip once a year, not to mention 2 times or more. But in fact, there are several ways to travel with your family at minimal cost.

  • The first way is to open a savings account

First of all, a family who wants to go on a trip must open a savings account. Further, they should have an agreed amount of money, which is credited monthly to their savings account. The separation from the usual savings account or current account is of great importance. In this case, the family will always know that they can and cannot afford when they go to any country.

  • Ability to save

In addition, a dedicated savings account for a holiday does not mean anything if you do not have the means to pay into it. If you want to pay great attention to travel, you have to change your lifestyle in order to have money, and then, you could save that money with the savings on your special savings account. You can refuse what you need least of all. You know your budget better than anyone.

  • Earn bonuses and miles on credit cards for flights and hotels

If you travel a lot, one of your journeys each year is covered by miles earned from credit card sign-up bonuses.

There are also families who prefer credit cards with no annual fees, in order to avoid any additional costs.

  • Do not set a specific date

Do not schedule specific dates when you leave, be flexible. Instead of saying you’re going to Amsterdam in June, see what deals are available in June and book those instead, or look for the cheapest time to travel to Amsterdam if your family is set on a destination. If you travel this way, it will save you a lot of money. You should know that there are many different flight offers throughout the year, so if you have children of school age and you do not want them to miss school, you will have many options.

  • Look for hotels with free breakfast

If you use points for booking hotels, book those with a free breakfast. Hotels that provide free breakfast or snacks in the evenings will save you a lot of money. You can also choose a hotel with a kitchen that will allow you to prepare yourself various dishes on your own. In some places, meals can be very expensive, and the family will have to spend a lot of money on food.

  • Go on trips with family and friends

If you go on a trip, do this with friends and family. This will significantly reduce the cost of the trip. Renting a holiday home or Airbnb and splitting costs among several households can save a lot.

Five things to look for when booking a hotel room

When you travel, staying at a good hotel really can make a big difference to your travel experience.

So before you book your next trip, check out these five things for a perfect hotel stay and a perfect hotel room.

  • Cleanliness

Travelers find a clean hotel and a clean hotel room the most important thing by far. Mold in the shower, urine stains on the toilet seat or a dead cockroach under the bed definitely ruins your stay at hotels! Nothing feels better than coming home to a beautiful, comfortable hotel room after a day out exploring.

  • Friendly hotel staff

More so than any facilities the hotel offers, travelers care about how friendly the staff is. The friendly hotel staff  makes us feel welcome and part of the group.

  • A comfortable bed

Nothing beats a large, comfortable bed that just makes you want to stay in your hotel room all day.

We’ve all stayed in places where the bed has been substandard and it’s amazing how a bad night’s sleep can make the next day a real struggle. And it’s not just the bed. The pillows and blankets can make a huge difference as well. There are even resorts with a “pillow menu”: a list of pillows to choose from to make sure you get to sleep on your perfect pillow…

  • A good location

Normally you book a hotel room because you want to (or have to) visit a certain place. Location being in the top 5 of things to look for when booking a hotel room therefore is obvious. But, don’t underestimate how difficult it can be to find out if a hotel’s location actually works for you. It can be so that hotels that you think are close to where you want to be will turn out to be either farther away than you think, or close to where you want to be but in an unsafe part of town… Read plenty of reviews from other travelers to prevent these mistakes. And, be careful when booking a hotel that has hardly any reviews (yet).

  • Good value for money

Of course, nobody likes to pay too much for their hotel room (or for anything really). So, good value for money is an important factor when rating a hotel.

Expensive hotels aren’t always better than budget hotels and a cheap hotel room isn’t always a bad hotel room. So check what others have to say about the hotel room you are about to book. They will most likely mention if it was worth the money or not.

Next time you are going through hotel reviews to decide which hotel to book, pay some extra attention to these five features!

And of course you should also check if your hotel offers free wi-fi, a complimentary breakfast, quiet rooms with a great view and maybe even a gorgeous swimming pool.
